Sidney North Saanich RCMP

Welcome to the Sidney North Saanich RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) website.

The Sidney North Saanich Detachment is located in the Town of Sidney approximately 25 kilometers from Victoria, British Columbia on Vancouver Island.

Our policing area includes:

  • The Town of Sidney
  • The District of North Saanich
  • Four First Nation communities on the Saanich Peninsula (Tsawout, Tsartlip, Tseycum and Pauquachin)
  • Willis Point
  • Provincial area consisting of 50 islands and a 55 kilometer section of international border with the United States.

Our community is a transportation hub which includes the Victoria International Airport, the BC Ferries Swartz Bay Terminal, several marinas and Hwy 17 corridor to Victoria. An estimated 10 million people pass through these facilities annually.

Our Police Detachment consists of 34 officers and 10 administration staff serving a population of 28,000 residents. The detachment provides 24-hour services 7 days a week and consists of General Duty Patrol, School Liaison and a Major Crime Investigation unit.

The Community Policing unit incorporates crime prevention programs managed by dedicated volunteers. An active Block Watch program keeps participating residents informed on crime trends and provides fraud scam awareness tips. A volunteer speed watch program supports traffic calming measures on local streets.

The Detachment is also complimented with several other volunteers providing assistance and support to victims of crime and alternative resolutions to crime activity through the Saanich Peninsula Restorative Justice program.

Our policing priorities include:

A strategic plan which incorporates policing initiatives focused on Enhanced Road Safety, Property Crime Reduction and community engagement with youth, seniors, unhoused and the business community.
